A Scot's Honor

15 April 2001

A HIGHLAND MAN
WALKS ALONE
WITH THE MIST
CHILLING HIS FACE

PEACE AND FREEDOM
HAS PASSED HIM BY
HIS FAMILY IS NO MORE
WHAT WAS HIS IS LOST

HE WALKS THE GLEN
DOWN TO THE MOOR
THE COLD ETCHED IN HIS FACE
HIS EYES SAY HIS DISGRACE

THEY FOUGHT WELL
THEY FOUGHT HARD
BUT WHAT WAS THEIRS
DIED IN THE GORE

HIS FOOTSTEPS ECHO HOLLOW
ALONG THE MOOR
HIS STRIDE
IS THAT OF THE OLD

HIS YEARS ARE BUT TWENTY
HIS BRAVERY AND HONOUR
THEY ARE BUT PLENTY
BUT THE FIGHT IS DONE

NOW ALL IS LEFT IS TO RUN
FRANCE? AMERICA?
WILL HE COME HOME AGAIN
NO FOR THAT WILL NEVER BE

GONE FROM THE MISTY HIGHLANDS
TO THE SHORES OF MY LAND
OUR SCOTTISH SOLDIER COMES
BUT NOT IN DEFEAT OR RETREAT

THE LOVE OF THE LAND LIVES ON
THE LOVE OF FREEDOM HAS JUST BEGUN
WHAT WAS, WILL BE AGAIN
FOR WE WILL RECLAIM OUR LAND,AGAIN!
